What was the biggest disappointment?

>decent, only needs mods to finish developing
>was pretty crap but being cancelled with no chance of redemption makes it the biggest disappointment by far
>knew it was going to be sh*t but it still stung a little

EA just had to salvage a complete sh*tshow and push a game out, Will Wright mismanaged the project and the "original game" people thought EA ruined were just bullshot trailers based on unworkable ideas guy prototypes. Soren Johnson who was brought in as part of the effort to make an actual game laid it all out pretty well: https://www.designer-notes.com/spore-my-view-of-the-elephant/

Don’t know the last one,
But Victoria 2 and ksp 1 have aged better than warband, where everyone has 2D faces and 6 polygon armor pieces. Fans of Victoria and KSP can just play mods and have a better experience than the newer game.
Fans of mount and blade can have deeper more fulfilling experiences in warband, but it looks so much worse and battles, the “fun” part is much better in 2. Bannerlord is just bad to play long term campaigns in. In warband you can jump around factions and get an entirely fresh experience prolonging each play though. In banner every faction gets the same units so you really just change colors if you get bored and want to do something else. When you realize that it kinda kills your drive to play. It’s easy to break warband with mamaluke or knight spam, I find it even easier In bannerlord when every faction basically gets swadian knights of different colors.

Bannerlord was better than I expected and is pretty much better than Warband. Once my favourite mods get ported/remade I'm sinking hundreds of hours into that again.
KSP2 is whatever, the original is still fine but the sequel isn't terrible.
I knew that Victoria 3 was going to be sh*t and I don't like to be right, but I was.
TI is okay, just needs more time. It has the potential to become a solid Paradox competitor. - Anonymous

Bannerlord. I remember people on this site wouldn't shut the frick up about how great it was going to be, the roaches never delivered and Warband is still the better title overall. People had plenty of warning about how Paradox was developing games to know better than to get their hopes up for Vicky 3.

Bannerlord is good and has the potential to be better than warband once more mods become stable, altho its still not better than vanilla. Vicky 3 was a fricking disgrace and the other 2 are just slop, barely playable.

>Once mods become stable
Not going to happen. They decided to release constant updates in small batches rather than large updates and scared off a lot of modders. Warband mods are still going stronger, i do think its a good game though.
Anonymous Bannelord and Terra Invicta are relatively good.Just some missed potential.

How's Bannerlord and Vic3 disappointments?

Bannerlord for being in production for 11 years I think, released in early beta state, updated in snail state, dev obsession with multiplayer updates, PvP, esport or other sh*t is cheery on top.
Everybody sane knew ksp 2 will be sh*t, they never show anything worth mentioning during production, I remember after two or three months of radio silence they posted screen of like 3 assets on moon, you had to be stupid to buy it on release date.
Never cared about vicky and modern paradox.
If you had any experience with long war then you knew what to expect. It's not bad game but you just have be in love with jank to like terra invicta, I'll compare it to playing to civilization on marathon setting it's so fricking slow. - Anonymous

Most of the discussion in /mbg/ was about how Bannerlord will eventually become good. It gradually sank in that this would never happen so people just went back to modded Warband and there's nothing left to talk about.

Kerbal 2. Should've been amazing. Paradox slop is never good these days, and so can hardly disappoint. Bannerlord is okay I guess. Had zero expectations on Terra Invicta but it's fairly fun, albeit clearly early access - doesn't even belong in this thread.

Stormgate was a major letdown for me in the RTS genre recently, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Gates of Pyre. It looks promising.

I:GoP is sort of the actual sci-fi Warcraft with all those hero systems.
The chances for this to be decent are sadly as high as for it to be absolute dogsh*t.
Played the closed beta and had fun, but I can't say that there's anything mindblowing. Perhaps that's for the better.

I guess terra Invicta
The others I had no hope for but I liked the initial release of Invicta. But with each patch they make it even worse. - Anonymous

Kerbal 2
And I'm 100% serious.
>Bannerlord
I expected nothing and got nothing in return. The sheer length of development was enough to make me lose any hope for it ever being good, and by the time it became playable, I just couldn't care less
>Victoria 3
I expected an utter turd and PDX delivered. The surprising part is that they un-fricked some aspects of the game, meaning it's now simply bad, rather than fricking awful
>Terra Invicta
I got exactly what I expected: a realismgay, boring slog that can't make up its mind what it even wants to be and endless rebalances. Played it once with each faction to check how much they differ (not really) gameplay wise and dropped it since then. But Kerbal 2? We were THIS close to greatness, and instead they fricked sh*t up on every possible level. This is the only one in the batch that had potential and possibility of good execution and then decided to make bad decisions on every single step of dev.
